Notes
Why Collagen?
I always recommend using whole foods to hit your macro goals but sometimes we need a little bit of help! Collagen is a clean protein that can provides 10 grams of protein per scoop with only 35 calories, no carbs and no fat! It is quick and easy to dissolve in tea, coffee, protein shakes, or really anything else. Most brands claim to be flavorless and odorless. I’ve tried a few and found that Vital Proteins actually doesn’t have a stinky odor and dissolves almost if not completely. This is why it is my favorite!
Collagen is recommended to be taken two scoops, twice a day for the most benefit. At $30 a tub that can be a bit costly so I do not take it as directed, thus I do not see maximum benefits but it is great when I’m in a pinch and didn’t plan appropriately or know I’ll be running short on protein.
If taken as directed you may notice less pain in your joints, clearer skin, stronger nails, fuller and stronger hair, promotes muscle growth and recovery (aka a faster metabolism!), it keeps you feeling full, and also is great for gut health. There are many benefits to adding collagen to your routine, try the recipe above for another fun way to incorporate it into your meal plan next week!
Please note that artificial sweeteners may affect some bacteria in your digestive tract. Please pair collagen without artificial sweeteners if looking to improve your gut health.
