You will need 2-3 sets of dumbbells for the workouts.
Optional Light Weight Set – 1-3 pounds
A Mid-Weight set – 5-8 pounds
A Heavy set – 8-20 pounds
Choose weights based on your current fitness level. If you are just starting out you will probably be okay with only 5 and 8 pound weights. If you are more experienced, you will want to be at the heavier end.
Moderate weights will be used for arm exercises. Heavy weights will be used for larger muscle groups like chest, back, and legs. The optional light weights will not be used as often but two 16 ounce water bottles weigh one pound each so don’t feel like you must buy them.
You will also need access to a step, box, bench, or table that will support your body weight. This will be used for step ups and for modification of some exercises for beginners.
During the summer we usually spend 1 month doing workouts with resistance bands only since many of you will be traveling and unable to pack your dumbbells!
Whenever we incorporate a new piece of equipment you will have a few weeks notice to give you time to prepare. Additional items that may be added at some point or another are an exercise ball, sliders, loop bands, and resistance bands.
