Frequently Asked Questions:
Nope! Many of the ladies in our community prefer going to the gym or group fitness environments over our home workouts. That’s awesome, we love that you’re getting your sweat on, no matter how you do it! Use the meal guides to help maximize your hard work!
Just beginning your journey? It can be very overwhelming to start changing everything you eat, improving your lifestyle, AND working out if you’ve never done it before. You know what you can handle so if you want to start with the Healthy Habits course or following the Meal Plans, do that! You can always start incorporating workouts as you adjust.
You will need 2-3 sets of dumbbells for the workouts.
Optional Light Weight Set – 1-3 pounds
A Mid-Weight set – 5-8 pounds
A Heavy set – 8-20 pounds
Choose weights based on your current fitness level. If you are just starting out you will probably be okay with only 5 and 8 pound weights. If you are more experienced, you will want to be at the heavier end.
Moderate weights will be used for arm exercises. Heavy weights will be used for larger muscle groups like chest, back, and legs. The optional light weights will not be used as often but two 16 ounce water bottles weigh one pound each so don’t feel like you must buy them.
You will also need access to a step, box, bench, or table that will support your body weight. This will be used for step ups and for modification of some exercises for beginners.
During the summer we usually spend 1 month doing workouts with resistance bands only since many of you will be traveling and unable to pack your dumbbells!
Whenever we incorporate a new piece of equipment you will have a few weeks notice to give you time to prepare. Additional items that may be added at some point or another are an exercise ball, sliders, loop bands, and resistance bands.
With this program you will learn how to eat the foods you love. Many weight loss programs simply sell you products to help you lose weight but keep you dependent on purchasing products month after month. There are NO products to buy here! Think of how much money you will save if you never have to buy another weight loss program again! The knowledge you gain is yours to keep forever. The freedom you gain when food no longer rules your life is priceless.
In the event that money is tight you can choose the installment plan. Pay for half now, and half next month!
Having a support system can play an integral part in your success. There is motivation knowing that other people are experiencing the exact same thing as you. Traditionally, week 3 is the toughest and when most ladies fall off but involvement in the community may be just the thing you need to push through that tough week!
That being said, some women feel uncomfortable sharing their personal victories or struggles or know they can get stuck in the comparison trap. The community is 100% optional, you can be involved as much or as little as you like.
The community is completely supportive and closely monitored. It is used for Q&As, advice, accountability, and announcements. Occasionally we will have group workouts or video chats here and monthly contest information can be found in the community too!
Many of our members have been trying to limit time on social media, all interaction is done through the Fit But Fun site, check in when you want and how often you want, there won’t be notifications coming across your phone all day long making you feel pressured to interact.
The meals provided are simple meals you can quickly prepare with as few ingredients (and dishes!) as possible. They are not gourmet and probably do not always use correct cooking techniques but after work and school everyone is hungry and just wants to eat!
To keep your grocery lists short and inexpensive breakfasts and snacks will be planned for two consecutive weeks. You will have 2-3 nights of cooking at most. Each week we allow one lunch and one dinner for alternative plans like social events, busy nights, or times you just don’t want to cook. I’ve learned to plan for things to not go as planned and I’ve saved a lot of headache and wasted food this way!
Our meals are “meat and potato” types of meals but we do try to incorporate 2-3 seafood meals during the month.
Plans are designed to keep you close to macro calculations (available for those in Healthy Habits or Finally Fit) but do not offer specific amounts as each person is different. A 5 foot woman will not need to eat the same amount as one that is 5’10.
Yes! Each recipe will list alternative meat choices and often list a variety of cooking and seasoning options to make the meals fit your tastes.
Know that something will just be a “no go”? Below each weekly schedule you have the option to update the quantity you would like to prepare, add a new recipe, or remove one completely. Your shopping list will be adjusted accordingly. Search our database of 200+ recipes based on ingredient, meal, low/mod carb, etc. to decide what you would like to replace it with.
Dinners will often have a recommendation for you and additional ingredients for your family. Say zucchini noodles instead of pasta on a low carb day or a side salad instead of tater tots. Making two separate meals for yourself and your family is not realistic so you have to learn how to make simple substitutions. If you miss out on something you enjoy eating or you’re still cooking while everyone else is eating, you won’t stick to that way of eating very long! The plans are designed to be as little stress as possible!
Most all recipes will have the option to add ingredients to an online shopping cart for grocers in your area that participate in our virtual shopping program.
Go into each recipe listed below your weekly calendar and add the ingredients to your cart. If you want to swap out an ingredient you will need to do that manually but everything from the recipe will be added to your cart with one click. The system isn’t perfect so you’ll want to review to ensure nothing weird slipped in there but in the past I never utilized online shopping because it took forever to find what I needed!
Checkout using instacart or your grocer’s delivery service and get everything you need delivered to your front door! Wal-Mart also offers curbside pick up. Can I get a hallelujah for not having to step foot inside?!
