haute chocolate styled stock photography summer collection final 19 - Prepping for your holiday weekend!

Labor Day weekend is upon us and you may be expecting me to tell you “stay strong” or “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!”…insert eye roll.  Nope.  Not going to say that, because if I did, I’d be a hypocrite.  I do what I want on holiday weekends and I think you should too!  Please note: I don’t have six-pack abs…but I do have a lot of fun!  Take this advice for what it’s worth! Ha!

I’ve been the girl sitting at a table sipping water, not eating because “I’m watching what I’m eating” while I watched friends drink cocktails and devour appetizers. It was miserable!  I can now tell you two things: 1. My friends and family didn’t love me any more when I had abs than they do now. 2. It’s a LOT more fun when you enjoy the damn nachos!

You will have temptations this weekend, you are going to be out of your daily routine, and even if you do have a plan, things won’t go as planned.  Focus on what you can control and instead of the things you can’t, it’s a lot less stressful that way.

Here’s my view of the weekend:

Friday I won’t have time for a workout so I’ll need to be active swimming or playing with the kids.  Food will be on the road, we have no idea where we are stopping, I’ll fast until lunch and drink a green juice to know I’m getting some nutrition.

Saturday – I’ll get up and run while everyone is eating breakfast.  We are having leftover steak and potato burritos from dinner so the only I won’t get to eat is a tortilla! I’ll fast until mid-afternoon then snack on a protein shake and fruit and veggies because we are going on a date night appetizer crawl and I am going to enjoy ALL the food and ALL of the drinks!

Sunday – I’m making this tater tot breakfast casserole loaded with bacon and cheese.  Definitely won’t skip that! I will squeeze in a 15-minute workout while it bakes.  I’ll drink a green juice with breakfast, try to snack on veggies and focus on protein at lunch.  Dinner is chicken, pasta, and broccoli; I’ll skip the pasta.

Monday – Time to pack up and go home.  Breakfast will be leftovers and not sure where we will stop for lunch so I’ll just fast until then.  There will be no time to workout and we will honestly probably want to take a nap when we get home so that will be my rest day

That doesn’t sound so bad, does it?!  If you know there are going to be chips, cookies, sugary drinks, and a whole lot of other junk around that you know will tempt you, go ahead and enjoy! It’s one weekend; use my tips for making the best choices while on holiday to help control the damage.  You are going to be just fine!

If you have leftovers, give them away or throw the extras out before Tuesday.  Plan to enjoy your time but also plan to hop right back into your healthy habits starting Tuesday morning. Don’t let the weekend stretch out into a full week!

I don’t know about you but I’m ready to get back into the routine that comes after this weekend.  I have some super exciting news about the future of Tribe Training and Fit But Fun that I can’t wait to share with you next week!  Until then, enjoy your weekend!

Cheers!Christine - Prepping for your holiday weekend!
