I created a sloppy joe recipe from scratch to avoid using canned sauce but I rarely made it because when we put sloppy joes on the menu, it is because we need something fast and easy! Basically, I gave up on doing all of that extra work but do sneak a couple of extra veggies into the sauce!
Custom Macros
I’m all about tweaking one meal to feed my family and myself! You can make sloppy joes work with your macro allowance pretty easily. Serve over your favorite lettuce to go low carb, or enjoy that bun on mod carb days!
Ingredients for Heat & Eat Sloppy Joes
- Ground Turkey is lower in fat but extra lean beef can be subbed
- Sloppy Joe Sauce
- Additional Veggies – you can quickly sauté onion, zucchini, garlic, mushrooms, or shredded carrots to sneak some extra vegetables in.
- Hamburger Buns
- Lettuce (if you are eating low carb)
