This is a family favorite! When our 13 year old is home we have enough for one night plus 1-2 lunches. If he isn’t home, this is probably enough for two nights of dinners.
Don’t get wrapped up in exact ingredients. Want more cheese? Add more cheese. Want a meatier mixture? Do less pasta. Same goes for seasonings, make it work for you!

Servings: 1 Dinner (about 6 Servings)
Ingredients
- 1.5 pound Lean Ground Meat (Beef, Turkey, Chicken)
- 1/4 Cup Onion (diced)
- 1 tablespoon Cornstarch (can sub flour or xantaham gum) (can sub flour if you do not have cornstarch)
- 1 tablespoon Paprika
- 3 teaspoons garlic (or sub a few shakes of garlic powder)
- 1 teaspoons Sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon White Sugar
- 2 cups HOT water
- 1 1/2 cups Milk
- 2 1/2 cups Shredded Cheese
- 10-12 oz Whole Wheat of Gluten Free Pasta (Your favorite shapes. )
Instructions
- Heat diced onion and meat in a large skillet over medium high heat. Stir until the meat is no longer pink and drain grease.
- Add in cornstarch/flour and spices. Stir. Add the hot water, milk, and pasta, then bring to a boil. Cover with a lid, reduce heat and simmer for 7-10 or until the pasta is al dente. (If you are using gluten free pasta, check your label for cooking times, you don't want to over cook)
- Sprinkle cheese over meat and pasta mixture and stir until melted into the sauce. Remove from the heat, and let stand about 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
Notes
Use 1.5 to 2 pounds of ground meat for this one. You'd rather have it a little protein heavy than light.
Mod Carb Meal, sorry, no low carb options for this one!
Serve with roasted/steamer veggies or side salad. Don't leave them out!
